Wednesday 19th of June

2-4pm

Room 225, ARC Building

Glasgow is Scotland’s largest and arguably most global city. It contains many archive and heritage collections of global scope, with enormous potential for writing histories of many other parts of the world as well as reconsidering Scottish history in a global framework.

This hackathon will introduce participants to archives relevant to writing global history in, of, and from Scotland held at the University of Glasgow (notably the Scottish Business Archives). You will work in teams to familiarize yourself with materials that they hold, and develop ideas for research projects that would allow you to use these archives to write global histories and communicate them to a range of publics.

The hackathon is delivered in collaboration with the University of Glasgow Archives and Special Collections and will also introduce you to the archivists and their work.

Attendance at the event is free and travel will be subsidized, but spaces are limited. Please complete this form to help us ensure that the event serves those who will most benefit from it, and that our participant group is representative of the History PGR community in Scotland.

NB There is no requirement for participants in this event to be doing global history already!
