The project is titled CRM Society at 50 - Archives, Library - An Assessment of the Present Position with Recommendations Towards a Future Strategy and will involve creating a written record of the CRM's archival storage and library collections as well as presenting possible policy documents to be adopted by the Society

Location
Part of this project will need to be carried out on-siteat The Charles Rennie Mackintosh Society at Mackintosh Queen's Cross, with opportunities for remote working to write-up reports and work on best-practice examples.
Project
Over the course of the project, the researcher will assess the current position with the archives and library which have been built-up by the CRM Society over the past five decades, often in an ad-hoc fashion.
A full audit and 'stocktake' of the CRM Society's Resource Centre - the may include the following:-
Recommendations for an 'aquisitions strategy', de-accession policy' and a list of organisations we may wish to collaborate with on sharing publications and knowledge (setting up reciprocal exchanges etc. too).
Update a written listing of archive materials in storage to include an index and condition report.
The researcher would have the benefit of working with an experienced librarian who is one of our volunteers. The volunteer librarian has thirty year's experience of libraries at a university level and has also been a researcher for various educational projects including 'Mackintosh, Context and Meaning' website development. This volunteer would be a key person in this project and would give the benefit of their experience throughout.
Outputs
The project will give the CRM Society an updated written record of its archival storage and library collections as well as presenting possible policy documents to be adopted by the Society in terms of Acquisitions, archives, storage etc.

Benefits to the Researcher
This gives the researcher a 'real time' project with practical outputs around policies and physical archive preservation/cataloguing. There is a 'live' project going forward from this.
