As we approach 'the Most Wonderful Time of the Year', there's no doubt that 2024 has indeed been a Wonderful Year for SGSAH. Instead of our normal monthly newsletter, in December we come bearing a festive message from SGSAH’s Director, Professor Claire Squires

Spring into Methods 2025 - Workshop proposals now open

Workshop proposals are now open for next year's Spring into Methods programme, a collaboration between SGSAH & SGSSS which brings together arts, humanities, social science, and other doctoral researchers from across Scotland to offer sessions providing an in-depth approach to learning specific research methods. SGSAH & SGSSS invite proposals from members of staff in any of the affiliated HEIs to provide this training which will be offered with our support. Deadline: Friday 31st January 2025

SGSAH internship opportunities for 2025 are now open for applications

SGSAH has organised 25 new Internship opportunities with over 20 partner organisations. These internships allow PhD researchers to spend up to 3 months at a partner host organisation, enabling them to enhance their research skills in a wide variety of contexts. Projects can be worked full time, part time or flexibly in blocks.

SGSAH celebrates its 10-year Anniversary Celebration

British Council and SGSAH launch Global Research Scholarships to help address Climate Emergency

The British Council Scotland SGSAH EARTH Scholarships programme enables international research collaborations between PhD and Early Career Researchers and Scottish HEIs and Scotland-based academic mentors, and external organisations, thematically focused on environmental Arts and Humanities and their interdisciplinary connections.

SGSAH Appoints New Deputy Director

SGSAH is delighted to announce the appointment of its new Deputy Director, Dr Andrew Dilley. Dr Dilley, who is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Aberdeen, took up the role on Monday 1st July 2024. Read more.

To celebrate our 10th anniversary, we're inviting anyone from the SGSAH community (past and present) to share their SGSAH success stories and/or positive experiences with us so that we can share them more widely and inspire others. Complete our short webform for an opportunity to get featured in our 10th anniversary publication!

This year’s PhD Applicant Mentoring Scheme has been officially launched. This scheme provides support to SGSAH applicants who face structural barriers in Higher Education. The scheme will run from September 2024 to February 2025, where mentors will support mentees through the PhD and SGSAH application process. Applications to sign up as a Mentor or Mentee are now open until Friday 30th August 2024.

SGSAH February 2024 Newsletter

SGSAH Summer School 2024 Call for Proposals

SGSAH is welcoming session proposals from staff at HEIs (academics including ECRs, and professional services) and external organisations for our annual Summer School which will be taking place the week commencing 17 June 2024. The SGSAH team are looking for our next Digital Curators for 2024/25! As a SGSAH Digital Curator, you would maintain and develop the SGSAH Research Site. The site is an online space for the dissemination of arts and humanities doctoral research across Scotland and a celebration of the achievements and career trajectories of our students and alumni.
